Australia and the Pacific’s turn: the top islands (part I)

After the success of the post about the best islands in the Mediterranean, we take the challenge to make a ranking of the best insular spots in the Pacific Ocean where you can charter a boat with BoatBureau to discover this natural paradise.

1. Huahine (Leeward Islands, French Polynesia).

Huahine is surprisingly exuberant and thus the perfect island to live a truly Polynesian experience. Its visitors will be delighted to sail along the beautiful coast on a comfortable catamaran or to make excursions on land to reach the most amazing private beaches. There is even the possibility to have a dinner on picnic tables in water…. Yes, as you read it, IN THE WATER! And of course, something not to be missed is a visit to one of the local vanilla or pearl farms.

2. Tasmania (Australia)

This “fascinating” place boasts of a rich cultural history as well as magnificent beaches, hidden tracks for hiking and very friendly people. The scenery is just breathtaking and give you the opportunity to get a glance on how Australia must have been before tourism. The sea on these coasts is not suitable for beginners as it is hard and demanding, but the compensation you get is immense.

3. Galápagos Islands (Ecuador)

Nature lovers will find in these fascinating island (which actually are underwater volcano peaks, some of them still active). They are vastly populated by iguanas, turtles and many bird species. These islands rich in nature are a great diving spot as well, but as it is declared National Park and marine reserve, you should inform yourself about the possibilities beforehand.

4. Great Barrier Reef Islands (Australia)

The Great Barrier Reef consists of more than 3.000 individual coral reef systems and hundreds of islands, so there are a lot of spots to be explored and excursions to be made. Everybody should go for a dive in the Great Barrier Reef once as it is an incredible opportunity to see a totally different side of the sea as we know it from sailing. The reefs are full of life and one of the last real natural treasures on earth. This unique spot is a destination “must go” thanks to its huge offer of adventures for all kind of people.

5. Whitsunday Islands

The Whitsunday Islands are located in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef and thus the perfect place to start exploring the natural beauty of the Great Barrier Reef. The island is stunningly beautiful with large sandy beaches and warm waters. The perfect place for snorkeling and sailing, so if you are looking for a spot to start and end you sailing trip in the Great Barrier Reef, this is you place to be.

As you can see, the islands in the Mediterranean have very little to do with the ones in the Pacific Ocean. Both are outstanding and beautiful in their own way.
