Sailing itinerary for Ibiza

Ibiza is one of the most famous islands in the Mediterranean, known for its parties. But it also has beautiful villages to visit and beaches to relax during the day. From BoatBureau we suggest a 7-day sailing itinerary for Ibiza for you to know all the sides of this island. And we include three days in neighboring Formentera, one of the most beautiful places in the Balearic Islands.

The best months to sail Ibiza are from May to October, when the weather is nice and you can take advantage of the beaches. Sailing Ibiza and Formentera is a wonderful experience, thanks mainly to the clear waters and beautiful landscape. But we must be careful when approaching the coast, because we can have a mishap with rocks.

Wind and Weather

The weather in Ibiza (and in general in the southwestern part of the Balearic Islands) is warm and just a low wind blows. The western part of the islands receives virtually no wind, the water is calm and it is really nice to sail there. The eastern part of the archipelago gets a little more easterly winds. The area between Ibiza and Formentera is the most subject one to wind, but it still is not aggressive nor impede or disturb sailing.

Itinerary: Ibiza and Formentera (7 days / 95 – 100 NM)

Day 1 Sant Antoni de Portmany – Es Cubells (17 NM)

We will set sail from Sant Antoni, the second city of the island. Halfway we will find the isle of Es Vedrà, where you can practice snorkel or scuba diving. We will end the day at Es Cubells, near where we can find various idyllic coves, as Cala Porroig, Cala Jondal and Sa Caleta.

Day 2 Cubells – Espalmador – Sant Francesc de Formentera (12 NM)

On our sailing itinerary for Ibiza we go now to the neighboring island of Formentera for some days. We will arrive in the north, visit Espalmador and end the day at Sant Francesc.

Day 3 Sant Francesc de Formentera – Platja de Migjorn (13 NM)

The beaches along the entire island of Formentera offer white sands and clear waters. But also rocks and caves for diving. We must be careful not to get too close to the coastline with our boat because we can damage it with a rock.

Day 4 Platja de Migjorn – Es Pujols (16 NM)

On this day we can enjoy the beaches of the island of Formentera. This is a paradise that offers the Mediterranean and one of the best places to spend a few days relaxing in contact with the sea. On our way to Es Pujols, we will surround the island to the east and see the La Mola lighthouse.

Day 5 Es Pujols – Ibiza (11 NM)

We will finish our stay in Formentera in the mainly tourist spot of the island: Es Pujols. We can sunbathe on the white sand and enjoy a refreshing swim in its waters. We can approach the craft market of La Mola, which opens Wednesday and Sunday from May to October and from 16:00 to 22: 00h. At the end of the day we will return to Ibiza.

Day 6 Ibiza (0-5 NM)

Day to enjoy the city of Ibiza. If we want to keep sailing, we can approach the beach of Es Cavallet, south. But we can also spend the daytime knowing the city, and the night enjoying its entertainment offer. Some of the best clubs in the world according to the magazine DJMag, sucha as Space, Pacha, Amnesia or Ushuaïa, are here.

Day 7 Ibiza – Sant Antoni de Portmany (26 NM)

We will finish our sailing itinerary for Ibiza enjoying a little more of the capital of the island and leaving for our departure place. In Sant Antoni de Portmany we will leave the ship, but if we like we can stay a little longer in the Balearics.
